Embracing New Beginnings and the Journey to Wellness

Welcome to Thriving with Nikki

Hey there, and welcome to Thriving with Nikki—your go-to space for wellness, self-care, and feeling fabulous in your 40s! (Cue confetti and maybe a well-timed jazz hands moment.)

I’m a mom to a funny, energetic seven-year-old, a wife to an amazing husband, and I work full-time in education—which basically makes me a professional cat herder. Like many of you, I’m deep in the trenches, balancing family, career, and wellness while building a joyful home that actually feels good to live in.

But let’s be real—thriving isn’t about doing it all. It’s about choosing what truly brings happiness. Some days, that means prioritizing wellness (hello, protein goals and strength training—because my metabolism no longer runs on vibes alone). Other days, it’s just about drinking enough water, squeezing in a quick at-home workout, or showing up in a way that makes me feel confident—and not like I just rolled out of a pile of unfolded laundry.

Thriving Through Challenges: How Small Steps Make a Big Impact

Life hasn’t always been smooth sailing—I beat cancer in my 20s and now live with lupus—but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: thriving isn’t about perfection, it’s about intention.

Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” And while I’m pretty sure he wasn’t talking about putting on real pants instead of leggings, every small choice counts. Small steps add up, and even the little things—like a healthy breakfast, dressing in a way that makes you feel amazing, or just finding five minutes to breathe—can make a huge difference.

For me, that step has been making time for yoga and strength training. Showing up for movement—even when I’m exhausted—has been a game-changer for my energy, confidence, and sanity.

Living Your Dream Life: Finding Strength, Style, and Balance

Henry David Thoreau once said, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” And if your dream life involves feeling strong, stylish, and slightly less frazzled, then congratulations—you’re in the right place.

So, let’s do this. Let’s show up, make space for what matters, and create a life where we’re not just getting by, but thriving. I’m so excited for this journey, and I’m ridiculously grateful you’re here with me!

Now tell me—what’s one step you’re taking toward thriving in your own life? Maybe it’s a wellness goal, a mindset shift, or just getting five minutes alone in the bathroom without someone knocking. Share in the comments, and let’s hype each other up!
